Srinagar, Jun 25: The health department has kept is transfers policy for doctors and paramedical staff consigned to files only and have never implemented it, medics say.
Doctors posted in district, sub district an health centers of the state are kept at the same place of posting for years which creates vested interest between them and pharmacist stores.
Locals and citizens complain of doctors and paramedical staff not being transferred by the health department for years from their place of posting.
Citizens say that some doctors and paramedical are posted in a particular hospital for years which seems that health department has ignored its transfer policy.
Officials sources and RTIs filed by the activists corroborate with the complaints of citizens.
Citing examples of many hospitals including in District Hospital Handwara and Pulwama, locals said that some doctors have not been transfers for decades.
Doctors Association Kashmir led by Dr Nisar ul Hassan has been repeatedly reminding the authorities of implementing transfer policy with transparency.
DAK said that non implementation of transfer policy hits patient care.
Several officials in the health department also agreed that transfer policy for doctors and other health staff has not been implemented with transparency from last two decades.
They said that some doctors retire at the same place of posting where they are placed on their posting.
When contacted, Director Health Services Kashmir Dr Kunzes Dolma told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that the policy has not been implemented from the last two decades with spirit.
“The department is looking into the complaints and cases of prolonged posting of doctors and paramedical staff. We are on it, and the policy will be implemented in letter and spirit soon,” Dr Dolma said.
