Drivers protest as FCI fails to unload their trucks from Jun 25

Srinagar, Jul 03 : The drivers from different areas on Wednesday staged a protest against the Food Corporation of India (FCI) for failing to unload their trucks from last over one week.

The drivers in Anantnag district assembled on the road and chanted slogans in favour of their demands as well as against the FCI officials.

The protesting drivers said that their trucks have not been unloaded from June 25, adding that whenever they ask the officials to unload the supply, they are being charged with batons.

They said they are supplying the ration to the FCI stores from last 29 years, but stated that this time the FCI officials are pushing to the walls, urging the authorities to unload their trucks at an earliest so that they could heave a sigh of relief.

The drivers from outside Kashmir said that the official apathy has compelled to sit on the roads here. “No arrangements have been made for the drivers while as the vehicles are not being unloaded, thus leaving the drivers to lurch at large,”.

They later appealed the authorities to look into the matter and ensure their vehicles are unloaded without any further delay.
