SRINAGAR, MAY 22 (.): Strongly condemning the firing and seriously injuring 4 teenage girls in Shpoian, All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Chairman, Syed Ali Geelani said that this is what the Indian army means by the much hyped ‘ceasefire’.
He said that it is the genetic nature of the oppressor that it inflicts the wounds first and then sprinkles the salt and pepper on them, to aggregate the pain and agony of the sufferer, so that these sick-minded rulers get psychological and mental pleasure.
Hurriyat Chairman said that it is the same army which in whole of the state of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly South Kashmir, butchered and massacred hundreds of youth irrespective of their being armed or un-armed, wounded, maimed and blinded thousands of innocents just for peaceful protests in demand of their basic rights, and now most brazenly and shamelessly, the arrange the so-called Iftar Party, to show their artificial love and affection with these bereaved families. He applauded and hailed the people of Shopian who opposed these fake gestures.
Hurriyat chairman said that when people of that area didn’t want such an event, why these men in uniform forced their dictation on gunpoint and when people opposed they fired to silence them by bullets, –hounring and respecting their so-called ‘ceasefire’ Geelani Sahab said their army will continue to conduct such iftar parties to mingle with the people so that they could wash off their hands drenched in our blood, but people are cautioned to behave like their Shopian brethren and not to participate in such activities. SRINAGAR, MAY 22 (.): Condemning firing on masses in Shopian yesterday evening, AIP Supremo and MLA Langate Er. Rasheed has called the Army’s attempt to hold Iftaar Party in the area a cruel joke, unwanted and adding salt to the injuries of locals.
In a statement issued today Er. Rasheed said “Hearts and minds of Kashmiris can never be won by holding Iftaar parties, carrying Sadh Bhawna operations, opening good will schools and arranging tours for innocent villagers of remote areas to various cities of India. The political aspirations of Kashmiris can never be replaced or substituted by cosmetic measures especially under circumstances when someone not less than the stature of PM Narendra Modi threatened Kashmiris just few days back and rather addressing the real dispute asked them to fall in line and surrender”.
Er. Rasheed added that Army officers should have kept in mind that while Shopian is being blood bathed on daily basis and people like Major Aadatiya get rewarded for ordering the massacres how would have anyone betrayed his conscience and agreed to be part of the Iftaar Party. The army’s drama of the Iftaar party was nothing but an attempt to provoke the locals and then cry victim and find an excuse to use violence against the unarmed population”.
Er. Rasheed ridiculed police version and said “On one side police claims that it had no information about army holding the Iftaar party and on the other side is justifying the use of force against civilians. It speaks volumes how police is trying to justify every atrocity on unarmed civilians and the act is highly deplorable”. (.)
